The rainy season is already here.
And it comes with its own exclusive package.
You will get Rain…
Obviously.
And that nice earthy scent that it brings.
You will also get an umbrella or a raincoat depending on how you choose to commute.
But what you will also get is… .
The wind
The thunder
Lots of fallen trees and traffic jams.
And
Sometimes
Occasional
.
.
Power Cuts.
Such power cuts have troubled me before. Though this time, It’s just a different kind of trouble.
Today, a Power Cut means a lot of things.
It means being interrupted while watching my favourite show, Friends — the episode where Rachel is about to find out about the list in which Ross calls her “just a waitress”.
Or it could simply mean an interruption while playing your favourite game Mario, where you have just jumped over the head of Bowser, but the power goes off at the exact state when you are in the air, before you land on the axe… or who knows, maybe on Bowser’s head instead.
But today it simply meant lying on my bed at 1 a.m. after a long 8-hour shift, with my eyes wide open… .
Because the silence and darkness after a power cut has it’s own way of keeping you awake.
And then…
All of a sudden…
My mind drifts back to a time when power cuts meant something completely different.
It meant playing hide & seek with your siblings.
It meant taking ice from the freezer and rubbing it on your face.
It meant getting a break from your studies — okay this one’s my favourite.😌
Or it meant spending some time with family.
And
Occasionally… .
It meant going to the terrace and sleeping under a sky full of stars.
So,
Lying on my bed,
I wonder…
What happened?
Where did the stars go?
Perhaps…
I’m just not on the terrace anymore.
The power eventually came back.
As it always does.
I closed my eyes and finally went to sleep.
.
.
.
But somehow…
I couldn’t stop thinking about those power cuts that never really felt like power cuts.
Like that cup of tea that was made the same old way.. .
But used to taste different.
