Sunglasses

Drinking tea always makes me happy.
It’s one of those things that never bores me.

But today, my mind isn’t happy.
It’s drifting somewhere… restless.

It keeps going back to something a staff member at the sunglasses store told me a few days ago.

Back then, I refused to agree with him.
But now… holding this hot cup of tea in my hand,
It feels like what he said actually makes sense.
In a deeper way, though.

So here’s what happened.

I went to an eyeglass store to buy a pair of eyeglasses.
But instead, ended up ordering a pair of Sunglasses.
Because I really liked them.
I even added extra features — UV resistant, scratch resistant…
because I like optimizing what I buy.

Then when the day came to collect my order…
I went with enthusiasm and excitement.

Only to find…
my “scratch-resistant” glasses already had scratches.

 My excitement left my body,
and my enthusiasm died before it could even leave.

But what irritated me more was the staff’s reaction.

Instead of acknowledging it, he argued.

He said:
“Sir, you are looking too close.”
“Why are you even looking in the first place?”
“Don’t look… and everything will be fine.”

Thus, he questioned why I was even checking for defects.
Blamed me for inspecting too closely.

I left angry.
Sent a long complaint mail.

Next day, he came home with a replacement.

It had scratches too.

End of story.

But is it?

Today, those words keep echoing in my head.

“Don’t look… and everything will be fine.”

And slowly…

I realize…

he had a point.

He was just trying to defend his store.

But while doing so…
He accidentally said something
that wise men have been saying for ages.

“Judge not, that you be not judged.”

“You only lose what you cling to.”

“Judge nothing, and you will be happy.”

And maybe…

“Be happy with what you have, even if it’s not what you have asked for.”

(Okay… that last one is mine.)

The point is…

We don’t just do this with products.

We do it with life.

We scrutinize everything—

our work
our relationships
our finances
our dreams…
and how many of them actually became real.

And maybe…
that’s the problem.

Life is like a sunglass.

Prone to scratches.

But sometimes,
we need to stop looking so closely.

Forgive the imperfections.
Accept what is.

And just be at peace.

And enjoy the tea
even if it’s not perfect!
